Gwen grew up in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Benson High School in 1963. She then went on the graduate from Midland Lutheran College in sociology and psychology in 1967. In 1974, she graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha with a master’s degree in social work. She is accredited by both the National Association of Social Workers and by the Academy of Certified Social Workers. Gwen has over 34 years of experience with the State Health and Human Services System. She has two grown daughters.
She was elected in 2004 to represent the 9th Nebraska legislative district. She currently sits on the Education and Health and Human Services committees.
