Senator Howard Saves Taxpayers $500,000 with Spending Cut Amendment
Senator Howard sucessfully cut half a million dollars from the main spending bill earmarked for another study of the foster care system. During the debate on her amendment, she pointed out that there had already been 12 studies in the past 8 years which have made many recommendations that have not been acted upon. With 34 years of experience in soical work, Senator Howard felt yet another study was unnecessary and a waste of taxpayer funds.
“Our children and our families deserve action; not more studies. I could not support funding for another study knowing how little has been implemented from the previous studies,” Senator Howard said. The amendment was adopted 25 to 11.
